As we get into the busy holiday season, many nonprofits are ramping up their services to help those in need. This is one of the busiest times of the year for many nonprofits — over 30,000 thrift stores and 46 million people rely on meal programs. Food banks, thrift stores, soup kitchens and community outreach services also experience more activity during the busy season.
With this increased activity also comes increased exposures. Slip and fall accidents, allegations of abuse, damage to property, inventory or food spoilage can disrupt operations. Defense claim costs, whether the claim is credible or not, can cripple an organization. It is extremely important for these organizations to have the proper coverage in place.

Nonprofit Team Highlight
Our Nonprofit Package team members are embracing the Season of Giving! Keep reading to learn what they are passionate about and how they volunteer their time to give back to the community.
- Urban Peak: A Denver shelter that focuses primarily on providing shelter, but also offers wraparound services to youth in the metro area.
- Chicago FarmWorks: A 2.6-acre urban farm in a Chicago neighborhood. Their goal is to distribute locally grown produce to those in need. The volunteers were so knowledgeable about the garden, as well as the various crops and produce. Our team helped clear debris to make room to plant more fruits and vegetables. We were even able to pull carrots right from the ground and take a bite! The Oak Brook team members are looking forward to volunteering with this wonderful nonprofit in the spring.
- Youth sports organizations: Team members have logged many volunteer hours coaching, fundraising and running tournaments to support the organization. These efforts allow our youth to continue to have the opportunity to thrive and enjoy sports and recreational activities.
