Do Your Liquor Risks Have Assault or Battery Coverage?

Assault or battery coverage for liquor liability protects your insured when someone gets hurt due to a fight or altercation. When a confrontation is covered, it will help pay legal fees or settlements (medical bills) associated with the claim.

A common claim example is a patron gets in a fight with another patron after being over-served. Sometimes when an establishment has bouncers, they may unintentionally injure a patron when trying to control a situation.

At USLI, if a risk meets the below eligibility, assault or battery coverage will be automatically included at full limits on the liquor liability policy:

  • No previous assault or battery claims in the past five years
  • No bouncers, security guards or doorpeople
  • Major entertainment limited to 12 times or less per year
  • Banquet entertainment limited to 12 times or less per year
  • No billiard hall or adult entertainment
  • Iowa, Michigan and Missouri risks (state prohibits assault or battery exclusion)
  • Assault or battery coverage is excluded on bars located in Utah

Send USLI your next liquor liability submission today, and we will review to offer this important coverage.
